Ritolin belongs to the group of medicines called central nervous system (CNS) stimulants. It is used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), narcolepsy, and other conditions as determined by the doctor.
Ritolin works in the treatment of ADHD by increasing attention and decreasing restlessness in children and in adults who are overactive, cannot concentrate for very long or are easily distracted, and are impulsive. Ritolin is used as part of a total treatment program that also includes social, educational and psychological treatment
Ritolin is available only with a doctor's prescription. Prescriptions cannot be refilled. A new written prescription must be obtained from your doctor each time your or your child needs this medicine.
Precautions:
Your doctor should check your progress at regular visits and make sure that Ritolin does not cause unwanted effects, such as high blood pressure.
Ritolin may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or changes in vision, Do not drive a car, ride a bicycle, operate machinery, or do other things that might be dangerous until you know how Ritolin affects you.
